Oggi all’open day della Leonardo  ho visto solo maestre contente.

Con il sorriso sulle labbra, una mano ad scompigliare i capelli dei bambini ogni volta che gli passavano vicini.

Senza frustrazioni, e se le avevano non avevano il bisogno di mostrarle a noi genitori come per giustificarsi in anticipo per qualcosa che non  funzionerà.

Senza essere sopra le righe, senza  dare la sensazione di venderci un prodotto. Solo  orgogliose del loro lavoro e della loro scuola.

Certo forse hanno selezionato le più felici  o le più brave o le più espansive  per accompagnarci. Forse ci hanno ingannato.

Ma l’hanno fatto così bene che non posso che credere che sia una scuola dove mia figlia potrà esser felice.

“Nel decreto legge sull’agevolazione ai comparti industriali segnalo una misura
per favorire la lettura dei libri“. Tra gli interventi
previsti, infatti, annuncia “la detrazione fiscale del 19% del prezzo dei libri,
un punto importante che ha a che vedere con la diffusione dei libri e della
cultura”.

Se lo fanno davvero, è una di quelle piccole cose con un significato enorme. E poi i biglietti per il teatro, le mostre…..

Evviva, si meritano un inno per ricordarsi di non essere (solo) democristiani.

Milano oggi era fredda e nebbiosa – faceva impressione vedere il traffico nella mia zona bloccato da una minuscola folla che aveva conquistato Piazzale Loreto.  C’era di tutto dentro. Era la rappresentazione plastica e in minore di tutti quelli che in questi ultimi 5 anni sono stati peggio.

E faceva ancora più impressione leggere di chi vuole cavalcare questa rivolta rabbiosa.

Oggi mi è anche capitato di passare in Via De Amicis davanti alla targa per Antonio Custra. Preferirei non rivedere questa foto, sicuramente non nelle strade della mia città

Bene i 3 milioni, forse benissimo.

Bene la velocità di reazione, con i nuovi nomi, la squadra.  E i nomi sono giovani, meritano tutto il credito e la fiducia.

Ma non capisco perché adesso un nuovo governo non sia più una priorità.  I “Forconi” a me preoccupano molto, Quando leggo che molte città sono paralizzate mi ricordo come basti pochissimo per bloccare un paese. E vedere l’Italia bloccata da chi protesta contro equitalia non è il mio genere di rivoluzione.

Continuare a vivacchiare così sicuramente tranquillizza Bruxelles (a proposito: qualcosa si sta muovendo: http://www.repubblica.it/economia/2013/12/09/news/evasione_fiscale_semeta_ue-73099401/)
ma non  non credo dia nessuna fiducia, nessun senso di un futuro, nessun cambiamento. Siamo alla cappa, in termini velici.

Proviamo a vincere davvero le elezioni:  a fare un altro “governissimo” per assicurare il semestre italiano saremo ancora in tempo se le cose non andranno bene, ma volete mettere la soddisfazione di un semestre italiano in cui l’Italia dice in che direzione va e dove vuole che gli altri vadano? E non per scherzare.

Non voto. Perché nessuno dei tre mi piace. Perché,  semplificando,  uno è l’apparato  uno il massimalismo uno il democristiano. Siamo sempre anni luce sopra quello che offrono gli altri, ma che senso ha alle p r i m a r i e votare turandosi il naso?

Ma soprattutto perché ho capito che  l’unico modo per votare è di entrare e provare a cambiare qualcosa. E fino a che non lo faccio, il mio voto non serve.

Was watching MSNBC early morning yesterday – an interesting round table where the head of Morgan Stanley in Asia (not really an extremist!!!) was assessing the obvious – that the shift of wealth from labor to capital is THE problem of the current times in the developed word. The subprime crisis is over since 4 years – what we have now is a very different problem.

What was completely absurd  was that one of the panelist – did not catch the name – was still adamantly defending the concept of maket self regulation.

For how many years will we have to listen to that before the myth is dismantled. Or, in other words, how strong the corporate power is?

 

E-Commerce and Small Commerce

I just stumbled in those two articles  – found interesting to connect them.

One one side, Bezos, in a typical Amazon no-hostages-taken style http://allthingsd.com/20131202/afraid-amazon-will-crush-your-small-business-complaining-is-not-a-strategy-says-ceo-jeff-bezos/?mod=atd_daily_email_list  saying that “complaining is not a strategy”.  True.  Reacting is the strategy.

This is the interesting part of the interview. Makes you really feel like opening a small neighbourhood bookstore tomorrow.

Charlie Rose: A lot of small book publishers and other smaller companies worry that the power of Amazon gives them no chance.

Jeff Bezos: You got to earn your keep in this world. When you invent something new, if customers come to the party, it’s disruptive to the old way.

Rose: Yeah, but I mean, there are areas where your power’s so great, and your margin — you’re prepared to make it so thin — that you can drive people out of business. And you have that kind of strength, and people worry: Is Amazon ruthless in their pursuit of market share?

Bezos: The Internet is disrupting every media industry, Charlie. You know, people can complain about that, but complaining is not a strategy. Amazon is not happening to book selling; the future is happening to book selling.

But it is hard, and requires focus  and possibly more and more consumer awareness about how large companies use and treat consumers.

Priorities

One – start fixing inequalities.

  • Most european countries by now have something similar. Introduce a citizenship salary.
  • Introduce a maximum ratio between best paid and least paid in the same company. Similar to the 1:12 switzerland proposition

Two – get high school and university reformed, anglosaxon style.

  • toss out all baronies from the universities
  • introduce real and measurable merit criteria to rank universities – parameter state->university $ transfer solely around that

Three – make it a country where elder people can live well. They are now a huge portion of our society

Four – Fight gender discrimination.  Insist with quota at all levels.  Put significant awards for companies playing positive model on maternity.  Force fathers to take paternity leaves.  Pour more money to help a balanced public/private kindergarten system to accomodate the demand. There are so many other “easy” things could be done…

Five – find the money for that. Yes, cut public spending wastes. BUT also – take money from the do-have. Dont be shy to talk a serious  patrimomial tax. Be implacable against tax frauds. If it is deliberate and material, throw the keys away.

Talk to me from one to five and you will have my time and my vote. I’ll be your man.

Theater in Milan yesterday – an Italian comedian (and many other things), Enrico Bertolino.

The show http://www.enricobertolino.com/casta-away/ was very good, go watch it if you can.  It was fun but sobering – mostly around politics and ethics.  Lot of material in Italy to make fun of the way we are treating those matters….

But close to the end, Enrico said something around “to change things, everyone of us should focus on doing whatever it is our task  to do – in the best  way we are capable to!”.  The theater exploded in an ovation. I was underwhelmed.

The situation is so bad that doing our job well will not take us out of it.  We need to do much more. We need to get beyond of our own job and start caring about the collective matters.  We need to find a new way to make politics, from the ground up – with no hidden ideology or mystical gurus. If we do not do so in a massive way, others will, using the instability and social unrest deriving from the economic crisis downstream effects as a fertile  terrain; what happened in Genova few days ago around the bus strike could become the first example of a long string.

I spoke to Enrico after the show; he told me that the sense of what he said was that we should not all try to do somebody else’s job, but he agreed wholeheartedly that to get a real change we need many of us to step beyond our small interests.   And this is one of the things I need and want  to do using this personal crisis as  a pivot.

Was there today, also but not only to forget  about myself. Fascinating contrasts.

Scene 1: Radisson Blue Hotel @Zurich Airport. Business focused – not exactly a GQ club in downtown Moscow.  You have breakfast with this in front. Like a gigantic wall of beatiful women. Nice, you could say, but why so sexist?

Scene 2: Initiative 1:12. The most interesting and impactful thing I heard about recently. Simple math. CEO can not earn more than 12x what  the employee earn. Crazy, socialist idea that could bring the world back to some rooted reason. What is interesting?  They have a chance to win.
